Binder is an adults-only service
Binder is operated by Binder Community Limited, a company registered in England and Wales. These are our published standards on child sexual abuse and exploitation.
Binder is for adults aged 18 and over. Nobody under 18 is permitted to create an account, hold an account, or use the service, and we do not knowingly allow it.
Every account must pass an identity and age check before it can use the service. Where we identify an account holder who is under 18, we close the account.
What we prohibit
We prohibit child sexual abuse and exploitation absolutely. By this we mean any content or behaviour that sexually exploits, abuses or endangers children.
There are no exceptions to this, and no context in which it is permitted on Binder. Without limiting that general prohibition, the following are forbidden:
• Child sexual abuse material in any form, including generated, drawn or edited imagery.
• Sexualising a child, or presenting a child in a sexualised way.
• Soliciting, arranging or attempting sexual contact with a child, including grooming behaviour.
• Soliciting, producing or distributing sexual imagery of a child.
• Sharing, linking to, or offering access to any of the above, anywhere.
• Using Binder to identify, approach or make contact with a child for any of those purposes.
These prohibitions apply to everything on the service, including profiles, images, Signals, plans, messages, communities and conversations within them, and any other content or conduct.
What we do to prevent it
We restrict the service to adults
How we do this is explained above and in our Privacy Policy.
We scan uploaded images
Every image uploaded to Binder is scanned against lists of known child sexual abuse material. If an image matches, it is withheld from the service and preserved securely as evidence, and deletion of the account and its data is blocked while our team reviews the matter.
We act on reports
Anyone using Binder can report content or an account from within the app. Reports that concern child safety are reviewed by our team as a priority.
We publish and enforce community standards
Our Community Guidelines and Safety Guidelines set out what is and is not permitted, and what happens when someone breaks those rules.
What happens when we find it
Where we identify child sexual abuse material, or conduct of the kind described above, we:
• remove the content from the service;
• suspend or permanently close the account, and take steps to prevent the person returning;
• preserve the evidence securely and separately;
• report it to the police or other appropriate authorities.
We cooperate fully with law enforcement and with lawful requests from the authorities responsible for child protection.
How to report a child safety concern
If a child is in immediate danger, call the police on 999.
Otherwise:
• In the app: use the report option on the profile, content or conversation concerned. This is the fastest route.
• By email: cain@bindercommunity.app. Please tell us what you saw and where, so that we can find it. You do not need an account to email us.
• To the authorities directly: you can report to the National Crime Agency’s CEOP command at www.ceop.police.uk/safety-centre, or to the Internet Watch Foundation at report.iwf.org.uk, or to the US National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline at report.cybertip.org. You can do this at any time, and you do not need to tell us first.
Keeping these standards current
We review these standards at least once a year, and whenever the law, our service or our safety controls change materially. The date below is the date of the last review.
